Why Fiberglass ?

Fiberglass Flagpoles offer unique advantages over other materials :

  • Fiberglass offers high resistance to the weather elements. Fiberglass flagpoles were firstly used along coastal areas because of the extensive use of that material in the boat industry, where it was preferred because of its resistance to the aggressive sea-salt environment. This same weather resistance is perfect for all climates : wet, dry, hot and cold. Fiberglass flagpoles will not rot like wooden poles, nor discolor and pit like aluminium poles, or corrode like steel.
  • Fiberglass flagpoles are maintenance free thanks to the pre-cast ultra hard glossy gelcoat surface. No need for repainting. This coating, which is totally integrated in the polyester resin during the manufacturing process, will maintain its color and gloss over time.
  • Lightweight: fiberglass material is much lighter than steel or aluminium and yet offers the same strength. European Flagpole Co.Ltd produces flagpoles with high fiberglass content and uses the highest quality woven roving E-type fiberglass. Transport of the poles is made easier because of the low weight, and foundations can equally be made smaller and lighter.
  • Easy and simple installation, because of the low weight of the flagpole and the hinged ground attachment that comes as a standard with the flagpole. Flagpoles up to 12m high can be easily installed without crane, only using "manpower".
  • Fiberglass flagpoles do not require grounding for lightning protection, because the material is non-conductive and thus does not attract lightning. Aluminium or steel flagpoles on the other hand do very much attract lightning strikes and can be a safety hazard if not properly grounded.
  • Quite halyards : fiberglass material absorbs noise, and therefore the halyard will not "clang" against the pole like for metal poles.
  • Our flagpoles have a brilliant white gelcoat coating, but on request the white pigment can be substituted for any other color. The finish will be equally durable and weather resistant.
